How to update HAL firmware library on SW?

Hi, I update my CubeMX library to 1.6.0. I use the CubeMX plugin integrated to STW.
When I try to create a new project (without MX) and select HAL driver, my system don’t found a HAL firmware install, so I click download and wait... when it is install I could find that the version is 1.5.0. So why STW don’t install 1.6.0 automatically? What have to do to install 1.6.0 hal firmware on STW manually?

Hi Leo,

New versions of firmware are usually made available by ST when support for new chips is included, but the chips that was supported by the previous version still continue to use it, unless there was bug fixes; only then will the new firmware used by older chips, to prevent any risk of regression...

This decision is of STMicroelectronics responsibility and we only follow their recommendations.

Moreover, if there is a switch in firmware version recommended by ST it will be available as an update of System Workbnch for STM32, so you shoul update it regularly by “Help >> Check for updates...”

I update my SW too on these days. I now have version 1.2. Is there a changelog o release note?

I just install AC6 under Linux manually, so far so great.

But I faced the same inconvenience with stm32 fimrware.
Because the stm32 firmware (both StdPeripgh and CubeHAL) can only use specified version, I have no choice to use other version as I want.

Looks like we need to use “No firmware” ...
