System Workbench for STM32

Need help with LCD on 429i-Disco

OS: Apple Mac OSX 10.12.5
IDE: Full Install 2.1 ‘install_sw4stm32_macos_64bits-v2.1.run’
Board: STM32F429I-DISCO

I am just starting to learn the STM32 and I have a 429i-Disco.

I’m having an issue understanding everything I need to do to bring up the LCD. I have a c++ project and it builds and runs fine but the LCD does not act as expected. I get a couple of odd lines vertical(with STLINK at top). I know there is probably a lot I’m missing but I was unable to find a tutorial on this that didnt involve libraties that are not in the System Workbench such as GUI.h used in the deom code from ST.

\#include “stm32f4xx.h”
\#include “stm32f429i_discovery.h”
\#include “stm32f429i_discovery_lcd.h”

int main(void)
{
LCD_Init();
LCD_PowerOn();
LCD_DisplayOn();
LCD_DisplayChar(4, 4, ‘A’);
LCD_SetBackColor(10300);
}

This is what the LCD looks like when I run this. I know the LCD works fine as I can put the factory demo back on and it has no problems.
