Energy Efficency of STM32 Libraries

I am going to program STM32L1 micro for a low power / energy harvesting application.

I have tried both SPL and HAL library.

Apart the well know pros and cons, what do you think is better for energy efficency and energy saving?

Can this choice (with the same funcionality of code) affect the global consuption?

I do test with low power on L1 and L4,

I stest only SPL, by with this library i get 30% bigger power consupton.

For much biigger power efficiency write register based software.
