STM32F4 DMA Interrupt big latency :(
Okay, I guess this is going to be a tough nut to crack. As I said I did not get anything on my display with optimised code and only when I removed the optimisation I got a result, even though it's slow (my routine takes ~300 ms to run through SW and ~50 ms through the other). I want to blame ST's code but the problem could be in mine too, so I'll try and tweak it till it works.
