System Workbench for STM32

Update vs. install version discrepency

I recently performed an update from within System Workbench and I noticed the (IDE) version is behind the currently posted available install version. The current install package version is 2.9 while after my update the version is as follows.

System Workbench for STM32 - C/C++ Embedded Development Tools for MCU
Version: 2.8.1.201903050911
Build id: @build@

I performed another update on the chance another pass would bring the version in sync, but the update indicated my version was now up to date. Is there any explanation for this discrepancy?

Thanks,
Glenn

Hi Glenn,

2.9 is just getting out now and the update site may not yet reflect all the changes available in the release. So you should try again this afternoon.

Moreover you may have cases where the IDE itself is not updated, but other plugins are, like the target definitions, so it’s possible its version does seem not to be up-to-date..

Bernard,

Thanks for the insight on the new release timing. I will try another update sometime this weekend to see what happens.

I had investigated some other forum threads regarding how to definitively determine the installed version of System Workbench, but there seems to be no clear indicator in the myriad of things that can get updated. My takeaway from the quick search was that the IDE component was the best indicator of the installed version. Please let me know if there is some better way to compare the installed version against the latest installation package.

Merci,
Glenn

Update:
I just performed another update and it appears the “version gap” is now closed.

System Workbench for STM32 - C/C++ Embedded Development Tools for MCU
Version: 2.9.0.201904120827
Build id: @build@

hi Glenn,

the version of SystemWorkbench is the fr.ac6.mcu.ide plugin’s version.
We always update at least this plugin.

Christelle
